1.2 million children in the US have lead poisoning. We’re only treating half of them. Several states are doing an abysmal job of testing at-risk children for lead poisoning.

Georgia
Tennessee
Florida
Kentucky
Kansas
Arizona
New Mexico
Nevada
10 other states declined to report to CDC

Yes, he is a crazy moron. So where is the executive order to eradicate leading poisoning in children by starting a jobs program to eliminate houses with lead paint, but, oh no, instead he removed all regulations on the use of lead.

You are welcome! Yes, it is an important topic. I did not see New Jersey on your list of states. My understanding is that the problem is particularly bad in New Jersey (and maybe Pennsylvania) where a number of buildings in urban areas are very old (and have lead paint).

I hit “like” in that I like that you are calling attention to this. There is NOTHING to like about this, though.
Lead poisoning, poisoned water, poor air quality… We’re doing everything we can to hurt the poorest and most vulnerable among us.

Thank you, K. E. Yes, there is nothing to like about this horrific, avoidable poisoning of America’s children. A good job program funding to remove lead paint from older homes would eliminate this poisoning of children. K. D.

Almost hated to hit “like” on this because of what it represents. That our elected officials are continuing their strategy of stripping America bare so that a handful of people can get richer to the detriment of our most vulnerable people is appalling — but these kinds of issues — like Flint, Michigan where lead in the water has lead to health problems for an entire community — flagrant violations of people’s right to clean air and water and a toxic-free environment should be treated as actual crimes. Until they are, politicians will keep pandering to their richest constituents and the rest of us will watch our individual rights erode.
