  1. I’ve been wondering about this. Honestly, I like some of the President Elect’s ideas for rebuilding infrastructure and promoting jobs. However, I’m not sure how a person whose daily decisions can influence the stock market will not run into an ethical conundrum somewhere down the line.

    1. Hi Elaine, I hope the infrastructure does come about, however, President Obama pleaded for that as well for years, but since the republicans had control they would never even allow it to be considered on the floor of the house of representatives and actually, after the first two years he was in office, few things he wanted were allowed. Racism, hate, bigotry are terrible things. What would Jesus say? We are all God’s children and all the colors are beautiful. I have lived around the world, China, Saudi Arabia, England, and visited many countries, like Africa and South America. People all over the world are pretty much the same. They want a good life for their children, food on the table, and a roof over their heads. Unfortunately, men and women who want power, land, and money don’t really care about lives that much. They live in a world of scarcity n their minds. There is no scarcity, there really is plenty to share. Sorry, I didn’t mean to go on like this, but it does bother me greatly. Thank you so much for commenting. Karen 🙂

      1. Love your passion! The whole election (on both sides) has been about nothing but passing judgment on others. I live in the Chicago area where a man was beaten and had his car stolen because he voted for Trump. I watched the video of him being pulverized and people were cheering the thugs on.” He voted for Trump, beat him,” they yelled. Fortunately, the character of most Americans doesn’t hang in the balance of who wins the presidency. We just must keep believing in and doing what is right 🙂

      2. Normally, this kind of thing doesn’t happen because of a Presidential election, but people who are thugs will always be thugs – they just find a reason to be cruel. This time is different, though. Trump “ginned up” hate, fear, anger, misogyny, racism, bigotry and used every filthy word he could find to describe women. He is a fraud, a liar, he makes things up, like a spoiled child of 5 years old. He is a narcissistic sociopath, and very erratic, a very unstable personality. So, this time, it is time to take notice. Remember, when a person shows you who they are, believe them. That is what my mom always use to say. As an RN I worked for a period of time in a Psychiatric Hospital and these are common symptoms of someone who is ill and who doesn’t know it. It is one thing to be a corrupt person, but mentally unstable is quite another. We should be very concerned.

      3. I really respect that you were an RN. My undergraduate degree is in human services. It alarms me that women with young children are the fastest growing homeless population. I didn’t hear either of the candidates or the press talk about that. I read the methodology of the polls that projected Clinton in the lead and found a trend that united the demographics. The majority of those surveyed felt the economy (trade and jobs) were their number one concern. It’s hard to take the high road when sinking in financial quicksand. I hope once the economy is strong again, people’s high ideas will return.

      4. Hi Elaina, Yes, there are real fiscal problems with Trump, he just doesn’t know very much about government and laws that are on the books for the IRS, and other State and Federal Fiscal Law Statutes. As far as infants and children are concerned, here are the programs: WIC, CACFP, NSLP, SBP, SMP, SFSP and the Snap program, Hillary Clinton as first Lady and Senator, introduced several of these and the Democrats have a very strong support of these programs as well as some Republicans, some were bipartisan, many were not. The WIC, a program that was put forth by RN’s years ago and the first White Paper in 1930 was also RNs. For more information please go to fns.usda.gov. Hillary Clinton, was the initiator that introduced free early children’s education and help for women when she was First Lady. If you read the Democratic platform it is filled with helping programs for under served individuals of all ages. As far as the economy is concerned, the Stock Market performance and Corporation profits, it is surging, the best in 20 years. However, it is not for the individual who is struggling to make ends meet, especially single women with children. The Republican “Trickle Down” philosophy is an insult to hard working Americans and those looking for work. Education of all kinds is where we, as a country, are lacking terribly. The Republicans, the Libertarians, do not believe as far as their philosophy is concerned, if you read their platforms, in giving a helping hand, in general. And, that is very sad indeed. I can give you a list of all my volunteer work with children beginning in High School with handicapped children, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, American Red Cross, China’s orphanages, a Leprosy colony, Children Burn Hospital, Saudi Arabia children’s hospital, and the International Women’s Association for women and children. So, I am somewhat knowledgeable about what is going on with women and children and now the aging population, especially women. I didn’t mean for this to be so long and didactic, it is just that so many people don’t know these things and I certainly am not an expert in any stretch of the imagination. I am still learning. 5. Elaina, yes, we do have many, many parallel interests. Our passions for poetry, humanity, honor, kindness, giving, and loving those who touch our heart and soul, stranger or friend, means everything. I am so happy that our paths have crossed as well. 🙂 I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. I am so excited about buying your book of poetry. I know I will treasure it! 2. We need to revisit our classes on American Government. I cannot believe how many people think that one man (or future woman) controls this country and their own personal financial security. Most certainly a President influences things…but how many broken presidential promises does it take to teach us that we are not a monarchy or a dictatorship. A LOT of people will have influence on the success or failure of ANY president (and sometimes like right now that might be a GOOD thing)… You and you alone are in control of your own future and the ability of yourself to adapt to the always changing and unpredictable economic future. Just you. The things that need changing are things like the free-roaming, anonymous voters of the electoral college who appear to be answerable to no one, the importance if line item veto, automatic recounts in close elections, and a return to paper ballots to circumvent the cloud of suspicion that surrounds any potential international intrusion into our electoral process, the election of House and Senate members who understand how the politics of bill-passing works and DO know how to compromise for the good of all regardless of party, increased voter registration outreach, and the realization that elected officials are not puppets represented individual voters but the needs of many voters (of which your opinion may be the minority). Politicians are not hired guns. And if we elected one, we have four years to correct that mistake.
